Which photo works

Upload the original file, not a screenshot or a picture saved from a messaging app. Once it is uploaded, each size shows the sharpness your file gives it: 300 dpi or more is excellent, 140 to 300 prints well, and under 140 that size cannot be chosen.

The framed print arrives finished, and that is why it works as a gift: there is nothing to measure, no drive to a framer and no finding out three weeks later what framing costs. It comes at A3 and A2 in black or natural wood.

How the framed print is made: no mount, plexiglass

First, there is no mount. The paper is the same size as the frame's opening, so the picture fills it edge to edge with no card border around it. Whatever white space the artwork itself carries is the white space you will see, which is why the line drawing and the blueprint look so composed framed and why a photograph cropped tight to the airframe can feel a little penned in. Check the preview with that in mind.

Second, the glazing is plexiglass rather than glass. That is a deliberate trade. It survives a courier, it will not shatter over a hallway floor, and it weighs a fraction of what glass would on an A2. It also scratches more easily than glass, so clean it with a soft cloth and nothing abrasive.

Black or natural wood frame: which to choose

Black is the safe choice. It disappears against almost any wall and it flatters a high-contrast photograph or a blueprint, because the frame and the darkest part of the picture agree with each other.

Natural wood is warmer and it earns its place with the vintage travel poster style and with the watercolour, where a black surround can read as heavy. In a room with wooden floors or furniture it stops the piece looking like an office print.

There is no white and no oak here. Both existed in an older list and neither is a frame this catalogue carries, so anything you read elsewhere promising them is out of date.

Framed print sizes: why only A3 and A2

Because the archival stock exists framed at those two sizes and not at the others. A bigger frame would mean quietly swapping you onto a different, lighter paper, so we do not offer one. If you want the picture larger than A2, the unframed poster runs to 70x100 cm, or a canvas goes to 60x80 cm and needs no frame.

Everything else that takes a picture is on on the wall.

Frame your own photo as it is, then pick black or natural wood and A3 or A2. If a restyle would suit the room better, frame an art-style version after a free watermarked preview. The photo needs to be one you took or have permission to use, and the price beside each size is the price you pay.

Framed print questions

How long from order to doorstep?
The frame is assembled to order and arrives in 4 to 9 working days. Delivery within the UK is free, and the bag shows the same window before you commit.
What are my rights if it arrives broken?
Tell us as soon as you can and we will replace it or refund you; inside 30 days you can simply reject it, and your statutory rights continue beyond that. That covers faulty, damaged and not-as-described. What you can't do is change your mind after production starts, because the piece was made for you.
Is there a card border around the picture?
No. The paper matches the frame opening, so the artwork runs edge to edge. Any white border you see is the one in the picture itself.
Glass or plastic?
Plexiglass. It travels better than glass and weighs far less at A2, at the cost of scratching more easily, so wipe it with a soft cloth and nothing abrasive.
