The metal print
A 3 mm aluminium panel, frameless, in three sizes. Its smooth surface suits a clear aircraft photograph with strong colour and detail.
30x40 cm, 40x50 cm and 50x70 cm. No frame, no glazing, no paper. It's the odd one out here and it knows it. The image is printed onto the panel itself, which is why the piece is thin, rigid and light for its size.
Who it is for
The person who kept the photograph rather than restyling it. A clean three-quarter shot of an airframe in good light, with the panel lines and the detail intact, is the one subject on this site that genuinely gains from a hard, non-absorbent surface. Paper takes ink into the fibre and softens it very slightly. Metal doesn't.
That's also the warning. Metal shows you exactly what is in the file. A soft frame, a heavy crop or a long digital zoom that has gone mushy will be more obvious here than anywhere else in the catalogue, and no surface rescues a photograph that was not sharp to begin with. What we do not claim about it
You will find aviation shops describing metal prints as brushed aluminium with a grain running through them. Ours is not that. The product specification carries no grain direction and no edge treatment, so the copy here does not invent one, and if that texture is what you were after this is not the product that has it.
Where it goes
A study, a home office, a modern room with hard light in it. Frameless and thin means it sits close to the wall and reads as a panel rather than as a picture, which suits a room with clean lines and does very little for a cottage sitting room. For that, the canvas is the better answer.
